Maya’s Motivation

Maya had experienced Frozen Shoulder due to an incident leaving her left arm immobilized. Her shoulder joint became stiff inflamed and extremely painful, limiting all her functional movements.

She connected with Andra through her daughter who was a student of Kinesiology and was knowledgeable about different aspects of physiotherapy. “I felt very fortunate to have referred to Andra Schonfeld as a physiotherapist.”  Maya has now been part of Eglinton Physiotherapy for just over 6 months.

In literature, Frozen Shoulder is described as going through 3 stages of healing. The Painful Phase may last as long as 2 to 9 months. The Stiffening Phase, where pain is present at the end range of shoulder motions and may be surfacing around the 4th month and last for 12 months. The third is the Resolution Phase taking place from 5 to 24 months. Current evidence suggest that the symptoms may be present up to 3 years and 40% of the cases may have symptoms beyond the 3 year mark period.

As per Maya, Andra takes a personal interest in seeing her clients live comfortably. She is professional and continues to educate herself with scientific evidence and specialized therapeutic methods. Her knowledgeable approach to issues is very reassuring. Maya received Manual Physiotherapy combined with the latest medical technology such as specific protocols of Low Level Laser, Shockwave therapy, Medical Acupuncture and more in addition to a thorough Personalized Exercise Program. Her right shoulder joint control and flexibility improved significantly. Maya is now able to use the Professional TRX system with almost the equal capabilities as her right side.

“I have seen the benefits of my treatment with improved mobility and freedom from pain. I am so thankful to be treated by Andra.” - Maya
