Encouragement from Erik

Certain parts needed to be lengthened while others needed to be strengthened.  Erik was instructed to perform comprehensive exercise package daily with controlled breath by Andra. Erik’s determination helped him improve extraordinarily.

He said endearingly, “It allowed me to decrease and prevent future spine and back pain. It also allowed me to have good postural control. Core strength was an important part of my program.”

Eglinton Physiotherapy is proud to see the achievements as we continue to provide completely customized curriculum for all our clients. Erik is more confident in his posture with no back pain.

Erik commented about the program, “I think the program is really good. I am in the process of increasing the intensity of the program. I will keep the program and continue to stretch as I even go away for University.”

Erik is a young athlete. He used to train as a competitive swimmer. About 2 years back “we noticed that my spine was not straight.” His physiotherapist, Andra identified it as a spine deviation of functional nature.

Erik was introduced to thorough specific Spine Segmental Exercise Program. He mentioned, “this wasn’t like anything I did before. It involved specific movements of my spine to re-establish control over particular segments of the spine.”

In the video you will notice Erik’s spinal stability shows great improvements as he transitions into forward and backward positions of the spine low to the ground to involve multiple spinal segments. He is also more easily able to conduct lateral flexion on the side of the spine convexity and shows great stability across the shoulder and pelvic gridle as when supporting body on ipsilateral side (same arm and leg). He continues to work on the Truck Rotation with Extension of the spine as prescribed on the Left side and to a lesser extend number of repetitions on the Right side.
