Erin’s Empowering Story
Erin is an amazing spirit, passionate and filled with thrill. She is also a recent Cancer Survivor. About 6 years back everything changed as her physical and mental stability started to deteriorate. Erin used to be an athlete and a yoga teacher, but her “body was so broken from treatments” that as she started going through chemotherapy her life was completely changed.
She had learned about Andra from her mother, who was receiving physiotherapy for shoulder pain at the time. Physiotherapy is known to alleviate distressing cancer symptoms such as Lymphoedema and Fatigue, which are symptoms present in most cases of cancer patients.
As soon as Erin was capable of tackling cancer physically, she focused on rehabilitating her Body-Mind connection by giving her brain new ways of movement. Andra helped Erin with Neuroplasticity. According to Erin, Andra provides a Holistic Approach. “Her words have impact and energy flows through her level of knowledge.”
Through proper assessments Andra started her with basic movements and built back her foundations over the years. She was able to become more mindful of her abilities, strength, and overcome her limitations. Erin gained insight into simple aspects of life such as proper postures of sitting, standing, and stretching that satisfied her level of comfort. She was able to relearn her body and incorporate targeted movement strategies.
Erin was able to stay motivated with Andra’s regime and now she feels “a thousand times better” with her fascinating development of full range motion shown in the video. She stated that “Andra was able to make me stronger and remind me of my power”, which is only possible through knowledge and dedication.
Cancer is a difficult journey. It is extremely challenging on the body and mind. The immune system suffers and there is severe fatigue and nausea from treatments with chances of recurrent infections. Fighting such a hard battle can be oppressing. Once the journey is over continual rehabilitation is crucial to not only gain physical control but to also reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
